Spiral Chute

Application range

Suitable for separation of fine-grained materials (0.3-0.02 mm) such as iron ore, ilmenite, chromite, pyrite, zircon, rutile, monazite, apatite, tungsten ore, tin ore, tantalum ore, niobium ore, and other non-ferrous, rare-metal and non-metallic ores with specific-gravity difference

Product advantages

  • Rational structure, simple installation and small footprint
  • Easy operation, stable separation performance, distinct product splitting, large throughput, high separation efficiency, high concentration ratio, high recovery rate and reliable operation
  • Light-weight, moisture-proof, rust-proof and corrosion-resistant. Strong adaptability to fluctuations of feed rate, pulp density, particle size and feed grade; no noise

Performance features

  1. 1Spiral segments are made of FRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic) and connected by bolts. FRP spiral segments are light-weight yet sturdy. A wear-resistant layer is applied on the separating working surface for long service life
  2. 2A multi-pipe pulp distributor is equipped at the head of chute for even pulp distribution and easy control. Distributed pulp flows gently onto the spiral surface through feed box
  3. 3Valve-block type product launder is installed at the tail end of spiral chute, which divides separated pulp flow into several products by grade. The interception width of each product can be adjusted by changing valve-block position. The concentric annular receiving hopper collects and discharges intercepted multiple pulp streams separately
  4. 4The cross-section of spiral chute adopts cubic parabola profile. Its variable slope is particularly suitable for fine-particle separation. The spiral chute features simple structure, no moving parts, easy manufacturing, light weight and convenient layout, installation and maintenance

Working principle

Erect the spiral chute, calibrate its verticality and fix it in position with steel or wooden supports. Sand pump delivers ore-sand pulp to two top feed inlets. Make-up water is added to adjust pulp density. Pulp flows downwards along spiral surface. Inertial centrifugal force is generated within swirling flow. Separation between ore and gangue sand is achieved by combined gravity and centrifugal force based on differences in specific gravity, particle size and particle shape. Concentrate flows into concentrate hopper and is discharged via pipeline. Tailings enter tailings hopper, flow to sump and are pumped away by sand pump to complete the whole beneficiation process.
