Working principle
Pulp is fed from the top feed pipe and flows uniformly into the flotation column. Compressed air is delivered into the column through vertical air pipes from the aeration chamber at the lower end of the column body. Numerous fine bubbles are evenly distributed across the full cross-section. The pulp descends slowly under gravity, while bubbles rise upward continuously and keep contacting valuable target minerals inside the column. Driven by reagents during counter-current flow, target minerals adhere to the surfaces of rising bubbles and build up a mineralized froth layer in the upper part of the column. The froth is scraped off or overflows into the concentrate launder. Remaining minerals (mostly gangue or non-target minerals) are discharged via the tailings pipe at the conical bottom of the column.
